Northwood Park Swim Club offers swim lessons to members and non-members. There are five two-week sessions being offered for the 2019 season, for a total of ten 30-minute lessons per session. The cost is $35 for members and $40 for non-members per session.

Step by Step Instructions for Registering for swim lessons

  1. Decide what level your child should enter. Read the descriptions of levels below. If you child has mastered all skills for a level, then register them for the next level.
  2. Click on the register button next to your session of choice. Please make sure you are registering BEFORE the stated registration deadline. Late registrations will not be placed in classes.
  3. Payment for classes is processed through PayPal and accepts debit or credit cards from a variety of card vendors.
  4. Lesson placement (class/instructor/time) will be posted on the website the Thursday before the class is scheduled to start.

Lessons will be held Monday – Friday between 9:30 - 11:00am.

Completion Skills for Northwood Park Swim Club

Level Parent/Child

  • This level is designed to give an introduction to lessons for kids 6 months to 2 years
  • Time will focus on getting comfortable with the water while introducing beginning skills

The following levels are appropriate for age 3 and up.
Level 1

  • Submerge head comfortably
  • Blow Bubbles with head submerged
  • Perform basic skills (floating, kicking, arm strokes) with instructor assistance.

Level 2

  • Float front and back independently
  • Perform efficient kicks
  • Jump in unassisted in shallow water
  • Continued stroke development with assistance

Level 3

  • Rockets with kicks independently front and back
  • Beginning success with arm strokes unassisted with beginning side breathing
  • Comfortable with skills in deep water
  • Jump in unassisted in deep water.

Level 4

  • Crawl stroke with side breather the width of the pool
  • Backstroke the width of the pool
  • Diving from side of pool
  • Beginning success with elementary backstroke, breast stroke, and dolphin kick

Level 5

  • Accurate and efficient crawl stroke, backstroke, breast stroke and butterfly stroke the length of the pool
  • Diving from block
  • Swim continuously for 10 minutes
  • Tread water for one minute
  • Perform basic lifesaving skills
